To show our gratitude, we host an annual furnace giveaway dedicated to providing reliable home comfort for a deserving military member or veteran. If you know a local hero living within a 55-mile radius of Falls Creek, PA, who needs a new heating system, we invite you to share their story.

At Gary & Sons, our commitment to our community is at the heart of everything we do. Each year, we host our Veteran and Military Member Furnace Giveaway to ensure that those who have sacrificed for our country can enjoy the peace of mind that comes with reliable home comfort. Our goal is to make an impact on the lives of local heroes by providing a high-efficiency Lennox heating system to those in need, contributing to their comfort.

Honoring Our Heroes

Honoring Our Heroes Each year, we invite the community to nominate local veterans and active-duty military who are legal homeowners within a 55-mile radius of Falls Creek. Nominees must have been discharged under general or honorable conditions.

Since 1978, Gary & Sons has been dedicated to supporting those who served. This annual program provides military members with reliable, high-efficiency heating systems.

Making a Difference

We review dozens of entries to help those with significant health challenges or household needs, such as combat-wounded veterans. We are proud to offer these families security and peace of mind.

Past Furnace Giveaway Recipients

2026 Winner

Marlin Rogers

Marlin Rogers is a combat-wounded Vietnam veteran from Marienville who served as a machine gunner in the 7th Cavalry Regiment. Marlin demonstrated incredible bravery during a three-day battle in a bunker complex, where he was hit with shrapnel and shot while carrying a fellow soldier to safety. Coincidentally, Marlin had worked in furnace installation earlier in his career and even sold the Lennox brand. We were deeply honored to provide him and his wife, Trudy, with a high-efficiency heating system to replace their unreliable unit, celebrating his sacrifice and service.

2025 Winner

Kenneth Pearce

After being nominated three times by his mother-in-law, Kenneth Pearce of Punxsutawney was selected as our 2025 recipient. Kenneth served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army and dedicated 11 years to the National Guard, followed by a 30-year career as a truck driver. Beyond his military service, Kenneth is a pillar of the community, having served with the Central Fire Department for 45 years. Replacing the 55-year-old “dinosaur” furnace in his 1908-built home was a highlight for our team, ensuring this local hero stays warm for many winters to come.

2024 Winner

Miles Bouch

Miles Bouch of Mahaffey was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1972, serving as a truck driver and mechanic in Manheim, Germany, before being honorably discharged in 1978. A lifelong hard worker, Miles built his own family home and spent years laboring as a heavy equipment operator. In 2017, he began a courageous battle with aggressive lung cancer, which eventually made the daily task of maintaining his 45-year-old coal furnace increasingly difficult. We were thrilled to surprise him with a brand-new Lennox system to provide him and his family the peace of mind they deserve.

2022 Winner

Larry Sharp

Larry Sharp, a dedicated veteran from Summerville, served four years in the U.S. Air Force and nearly 20 years in the Army National Guard. Known for his “can-do” attitude despite serious health challenges as a colon cancer survivor, Larry spent his life serving others, from emergency response missions to volunteering at Punxsutawney’s Groundhog Day celebrations. Even during daily chemotherapy treatments, he maintained a tireless work ethic, often working 12-hour shifts. We were honored to replace his aging unit with a new furnace, providing comfort and recognition to a man who has given so much to his country and community.

We recently had the incredible honor of awarding our 2026 furnace giveaway to Marlin Rogers, a combat-wounded Vietnam veteran from Marienville. Marlin served as a machine gunner in the 7th Calvary Regiment, 1st Division, and survived a three-day battle where he was hit with shrapnel and shot while helping a fellow soldier to medical evacuation.

For years, Marlin and his wife, Trudy, relied on an aging unit that “had a lot of miles on it”. After Trudy secretly nominated him, Gary & Sons was proud to install a brand-new, high-efficiency Lennox furnace—the same brand Marlin coincidentally used to sell and install himself earlier in his career.
